Allergenic foods prevalence

Food allergy has recently become more common. There's no curative treatment for allergy and management relies on allergen avoidance and emergency treatment of accidental allergies. Allergy can have a big impact on the lives of patients and their families and an accurate diagnosis is, therefore, of utmost importance. A food allergy‐focused clinical history, Alongside evidence of allergen‐specific IgE, are often enough to verify or exclude the diagnosis of food allergy; however, within the equivocal cases, exposure to the allergen during a controlled environment in hospital, called oral food challenge (OFC), is required. The diagnostic algorithm in allergy isn't significantly different from that of other allergies. The oral provocation is that the only method to prove allergy in patients without a convincing history. A selected elimination diet is that the only intervention which has been proven to be effective. Further therapeutic approaches are still under study and include specific immunotherapy, specific oral tolerance induction and treatment with anti‐IgE antibodies.
